The ability to create art, whether that be drawing, painting, writing, or other forms of creative expression, has long been something that we celebrated. Artists and writers were people who were lifted up for their ability to create with their names etched into annals of human history. Generative AI is stripping that from us. There is a difference between being inspired by someone and training a machine to try and replicate the actual soul of a person. Artificial Intelligence is taking what makes us unique and trying to smother it.

Generative AI Is Defrauding True Writers Of A Chance To Be Read

With the influx of systems that will create entire, usually poorly written, books from a single prompt, these so-called books are flooding the marketplaces. People who take the time to sculpt each word in a true story are being squeezed out in favor of mass-produced AI slop. These “authors” are people looking to make a quick buck. The true authors who have an actual story to tell are being lost in the noise. Real, actual stories are forever being hidden in the forest of artificial trees.

StoryForge Does Not Condone The Use of Gen AI In The Creation of Art

Whether we like it or not, artificial intelligence has a place in our world today. However, that place is not in the area of the arts. Human creativity is what fuels art and humans are who it should be left to. That is why StoryForge will always be powered by human creativity and not artificial intelligence. To that end, StoryForge has placed all stories behind a login experience to prevent unauthorized bot scraping. We also have a process of implementing a detection algorithm that will identify potential bot activity and disable the user.

StoryForge always has been and always will be a reading and writing website that celebrates human creativity. We have not, nor do we ever, have plans to ever integrate AI into the platform. While we highly doubt it, we hope that others in the fields of publishing and writing will also take this approach and favor true artistic expression over cheap, soulless, machine-generated content.
