Publishers Behaving Badly

Publishers Behaving Badly is actually our second podcast but the one that’s currently being recorded. We started talking more about issues in the writing and publishing industry at the end of our first series, and from that, Publishers Behaving Badly was born. Sometimes unhinged, sometimes emotional, we talk about a lot of issues facing authors and just people in general in the book industry. We wade into the current Generative-AI issues that are plaguing the writing industry as well as the occasional scandal and even politics now and then.

You get to see a lot more of the “real us” in this one. We talk about serious issues but we still have fun at the same time.

It seems like everyone has a podcast these days. But why would a writing website need a podcast, you ask?

That’s a good question. Thanks for asking. And no, we don’t have one.

Writing Our Own Story

We started Writing Our Own Story as a way to discuss the challenges that we face as a small business. Running a business, let alone a startup that doesn’t have billions of dollars in backing, is a huge challenge. There are lots of podcasts out there with “business experts” who are talking about things they’ve done in the past or how they’ve helped someone else’s business. When we recorded these, they were problems we were facing in real time.
