METRO SURGE ANTHOLOGY - AUTHOR AGREEMENT

This agreement explains how StoryForge may use your submitted work for the Metro Surge Anthology project. It is written in plain language so you know what you are agreeing to.

1. OWNERSHIP OF YOUR WORK

You confirm that you are the original author of the work you submit.

You keep full ownership and copyright of your work. This agreement does not transfer ownership to StoryForge, and it does not limit your ability to publish your work elsewhere, now or in the future.

2. PERMISSION TO PUBLISH

You grant StoryForge, Inc. a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use your work only as needed to create, publish, and promote the Minnesota Anthology.

This includes print, digital, audio, excerpts for promotion, and archival copies related to this project.

This permission is limited to this anthology and does not give StoryForge ownership of your work.

3. EDITING PERMISSION

You give StoryForge permission to edit your work only for:

  • Grammar and spelling

  • Clarity and readability

  • Length or formatting

  • Anonymity or removal of identifying details

StoryForge agrees not to change the meaning, message, or intent of your work.

4. AUTHOR NAME OR PEN NAME

Your work will be published using the name or pen name you request.

StoryForge may decline a requested pen name only if it would reasonably distract from the tone, integrity, or purpose of the anthology as a whole.

5. CHARITABLE PURPOSE / NO PAYMENT

You understand and agree that:

  • All proceeds from the Minnesota Anthology will be donated to charity

  • You will not receive payment or royalties for your contribution

The specific charity or charities will be focused on immigrant relief, and announced before publication.

6. TRUTHFULNESS AND GOOD-FAITH RECOLLECTION

You confirm that the events described in your submission are recalled to the best of your ability and are true and accurate as far as you are aware.

You are submitting your work in good faith, without intent to mislead, fabricate, or deceive.

7. RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONTENT

You are responsible for the content of your submission.

StoryForge is not responsible or liable for claims, disputes, or legal issues arising from your work, including copyright, defamation, or privacy claims.

8. ELIGIBILITY VERIFICATION (IF SELECTED)

If your work is selected for publication, StoryForge may contact you to request reasonable verification that you were in Minnesota during the relevant period.

If verification cannot be provided, StoryForge may remove the work from the anthology without obligation to either party.

9. WITHDRAWAL BEFORE PUBLICATION

You may withdraw your submission at any time before publication by notifying StoryForge in writing.

Once the anthology is published, removal may not be possible.

10. LEGAL BASICS

You confirm that your submission does not knowingly violate the law or infringe on the rights of others.

This agreement is governed by Minnesota law.
