WE WANT TO HEAR YOUR STORIES ABOUT THE ICE OCCUPATION OF MINNESOTA.

Students, business owners, rapid responders, everyone in between. Yes, that includes you. We want to hear your stories from Operation Metro Surge. Moments of community and hope, moments of anguish, even ordinary moments that stuck with you.

StoryForge is a small Minnesotan publisher that is collecting memoirs about ICE’s occupation of Minnesota. The stories we get will be curated into an anthology, with all profits going to the Immigrant Rapid Response Fund. Testimonials may be featured in a weekly newsletter.

NOT IN MINNESOTA? NOT A PROBLEM.

Real stories from Operation Metro Surge, delivered once a week.

The scope of this newsletter is only related to Minnesotan stories about Operation Metro Surge. We will not sell your info to third parties or spam you with unrelated content.

SUBMIT YOUR STORY

If you’ve been in Minnesota at any time during Operation Metro Surge, we want to hear from you. Moments of community and hope, moments of anguish, even ordinary moments that stuck with you. It’s okay if you have no experience with publishing. Just write what you’ve seen and how you’ve felt.

VOLUNTEER

We are a small team and need help reviewing submissions and translating non-English stories. Email minnesota@storyforge.com if you’d like to get involved.

GET THE ANTHOLOGY

Join our newsletter to read these stories yourself and get notified when pre-sales begin. If you are a retailer, library, or school interested in carrying this book, please reach out to us at minnesota@storyforge.com.

SPREAD THE WORD

Help us reach as many people as possible by printing these informational posters in color or black and white. The more attention these testimonials get, the more we can help the people most affected by this occupation.

DONATE

Help cover the costs of editing, design, printing, and distribution. All remaining funds are donated to the Immigrant Rapid Response Fund.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

  • Yes, we will. Digitally and in print, as many places as we can.

  • As long as Operation Metro Surge continues, submissions will stay open. Hopefully that’s a really short time. For now, we’ll say that submissions close in early April and keep you updated.

  • You can’t pre-order quite yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as you can in our newsletter (which you can sign up for at the top of this page!)

  • We are donating all profits from this anthology to the Immigrant Rapid Response Fund, which provides rapid, community-informed funding to organizations on the frontlines of response, care, and protection.

If you’re looking for more ways to help Minnesota, we highly recommend standwithminnesota.com! It’s a directory of funds and projects that lets you pick the causes that matter most to you.

  • We’re prioritizing stories from people IN Minnesota at any time during Operation Metro Surge. You don’t have to live in or be from this state.

  • Your submission has to be at least 100 words long, and you can’t include any info that could put people at risk. Since Operation Metro Surge is ongoing, we are taking safety very seriously.

You also have to accept an author agreement. It says things like: you own all of your work, you understand the profits are going to charity, and you can opt out any time before publication. You can read the terms in more detail at storyforge.com/author-agreement

  • It’s never 100% safe, but we have a few measures to protect you. First, you must anonymize details before you submit your work. Second, you have the option to use a pen name instead of your real name. Third, we will be reviewing all stories for compromising details before they’re ever shared. We can and will edit your work to keep others safe.

Lastly, we’re trying to avoid big corporations wherever possible in this project. We are not using Google Drive or Forms, which could put your information at risk. And we will be working with small Minnesota presses (not Amazon) to print and distribute the anthology.

  • Yes, you can. You don’t have to speak English to be Minnesotan. We’re working on finding translators to support review of stories in other languages.

  • The best way to stay updated is to join our weekly newsletter (sign-up is at the top of this webpage). We will be sharing real stories from Operation Metro Surge every week, and keeping you in the loop about the anthology release.

  • If you’re story’s not chosen for the anthology or newsletter, it will still be read! We’re looking into ways to preserve your work in a big collection of primary sources.
