Our Protections Against Plagiarism and AI Misuse

Concerning headlines about AI use and unethical practices seem to come up every week and, while some have been proven to be sensationalism used to create discourse, we know that the use of AI for malicious reasons is a very real concern. Whether it’s the old-fashioned human way or with the use of new AI systems, plagiarism and theft of creative material is a risk everyone considers when they’re sharing their creative work online.

As a writing platform, where our focus is for writers to receive feedback and achieve publication, our top priority is ensuring your intellectual property is safeguarded so that you can focus on writing and sharing your work with other writers and readers on StoryForge. Utilizing log-in barriers, with future options for double authentication, we are ensuring only verified users are entering the site and viewing stories. StoryForge also keeps a record of every version of every work on the platform- so any case of plagiarism has the proof needed to have your work taken down from another account or another site entirely. When you share your stories on StoryForge, not only are you gaining access to feedback and creative discussion, but you’re also gaining a level of security and authentication for your work.

Regarding content scraping, we have the current login requirement and future option for two-factor authentication. We are also looking into implementing watermarks, word jumbling, and detection algorithms. Again, our top priority is providing our writers with a safe place to create.

As the writer, you retain all rights to your work and readers can see that automatically stated at the bottom of your story overview. Of course, you also have full control over who sees your work. After posting a story, you can choose to keep it private, share it with a specific Writer’s Circle, or share it with the entire StoryForge writing platform.

StoryForge will never use your work to train AI to create content- It doesn’t align with our values of supporting and celebrating organic human creativity. As the platform grows, we will utilize human-in-the-loop systems to ensure we are aware of any comments that may go against our code of conduct and confirm which comments should be removed to keep our community respectful and welcoming.

Our growing community of writers is what makes StoryForge amazing! We are always considering new ways to improve the platform and we encourage you to share your ideas with us as well. We want to thank you for the trust and collaboration you have given us to build a safe and inspiring community.
