Our Story’s Just Beginning

The publishing industry is broken.

Publishers typically don’t even talk to aspiring authors who don’t have an agent. Overloaded agents are getting 50 manuscripts a day, and accepting maybe 10 total each year. The chance for an aspiring author to get their work published is incredibly small. BIPOC authors fare even worse. Only 11% of U.S. published authors fall into this category.

The exception to this rule is fame. If you manage to get famous for something else, the barriers to getting your work published magically vanish. Not surprisingly, the quality of work published by celebrities varies wildly, with the main selling point being the author’s name, not the quality of the manuscript.

For authors with the money, there are many self-publishing options. But these are less helpful than they seem. They will print whatever they are given, but draft manuscripts without the benefit of beta readers and editors tend to be rough around the edges. Getting a manuscript printed is easy, but polishing it and getting it in front of readers? That is left to the author to figure out.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

We created StoryForge to put power back into the hands of the writers, and to make writing fun again. Writers of all races, sexualities, genders, and backgrounds are welcome at StoryForge. Here you will find a safe space with writers and readers committed to supporting one another through honest, respectful, and constructive feedback as you work your way to publication. There are also daily competitions, writing prompts, and writing instruction available, if desired. It’s where writers are empowered, no matter their background, and can fine-tune, and polish stories, and eventually get them published. And, just for fun, customize your virtual personal library to make it a welcoming space for you.

And publishing? We’ve fixed that too. There is a progress bar showing your manuscript’s progress toward Legendary status, and being published under the StoryForge imprint. It will take a lot of work. Lots of revisions. Lots of constructive criticism. But you will know at every step along the way where you are, and how much further there is to go.

If this sounds like a community that you’d like to be a part of, sign up for beta access today, and be among the first to experience it when we launch.

We can’t wait to see you.
