The 2025 StoryForge Anthology

A celebration of stories, voices, and the writers who make this platform what it is!

We asked you to submit your stories. You answered with heart, talent, and so much soul!
Now, it’s time to introduce the stories we’ll be publishing in our very first anthology.

But we also want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible finalists whose stories deeply moved us, even if they won’t be featured in the final book.

All of these pieces reflect the range, uniqueness, and power of the StoryForge community, and we couldn’t be prouder to share them with the world.
Because this anthology isn’t just about who got published, it’s about honoring the community that made it possible!

Selected Stories

These are the works that will be professionally edited and published as part of the StoryForge Anthology. The stories linked here are the original, unedited versions as published on StoryForge by each author. The versions included in the official anthology will be professionally edited and may differ slightly in
structure, tone, or polish.

We encourage you to read both, to see not only the heart of the story, but the journey it took to get there!

Finalists We Loved

These stories weren’t selected for the final book this time, but we couldn’t not shout them out.

Each one is beautiful in its own way, and we encourage you to go read them, follow the authors,
and fall in love with their work!

FAQs

  • We’re going to have multiple types.

We will have an ebook available through our website and other retailers.

There will be a paperback version and a hardcover version as well. Because if you’re going to be in a book, might as well go big.

  • The price for the ebook will be $6.99 on 3rd party platforms. If you want to buy it directly from our website, it will be $4.99.

The paperback will retail for $14.99, and the hardcover will be $21.99.

We do reserve the right to revise this pricing if we find extreme unexpected expenses.

  • We’re still working out all the details but we hope to have at least the digital version, if not both the print versions, available through places like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and various independent book retailers.

The digital version will of course be for sale on our website as well.

  • We can’t give an exact date, but it’s going to depend on how many submissions we get, how long the editing takes, and how quickly authors respond to us.

That being said, our plan is to have this published in 2025.

  • Absolutely not.

That’s extremely predatory and one of the things that StoryForge was founded to fight against. The only money exchanging hands will be royalties for the authors.

  • The answer to that is “it depends”, unfortunately.

We are planning to have 65% of all revenue go to the authors. How much each author gets per sale is going to be dependent on how many authors are included in the anthology. It will also be dependent on how much of a cut 3rd party retailers take.

You’re most likely looking at between $0.15 and $0.45 per sale, depending on if it’s a physical or digital version.

The other 35% will go to StoryForge to help offset the costs of everything and honestly, just to help keep the lights on.

  • That will depend on how many are interested but we are looking at capping the total stories at 20.

If there’s significantly more than that… well, no one said that this will be the only volume of the anthology.

  • Technically, no, not outside of fan fiction.

However, if your story is gratuitously pornographic, that will most likely be disqualifying. Sex and general spiciness are allowed, but it should advance the narrative, not be the narrative.

Violence and other subjects are allowed as well as long as they aren’t gratuitous, but your story will receive a content warning or trigger warning in the anthology.

  • That… that is actually going to be coming sooner than you might think but right this moment, we are focused on the short stories anthology.
