Pre-Launch: Social Media
Hello, everyone! I’m so excited to share the latest from the team. Firstly, everything has been picking up lately in preparation for our launch this month. Curious about the date? We have a tentative day set for later this month, but that’s all I can say. There are an awful lot of moving pieces, and we’d rather give you a working writing platform than a pretty but broken one!
I’ll divide these updates into a few blogs so I can focus on each part and you can better see all the work our amazing team has been doing.
Social Media
My cousin was shocked when I explained the process of StoryForge social media to her over the holidays. She hadn’t realized the amount of work our marketing team has been doing, and it occurred to me that you might not either. So, I thought it would be fun to break it down for you guys.
Content Creation
Our dynamic duo Beatrice and Coriander put their heads together to come up with ideas for what to post. They base this on what’s done well previously, what’s currently trending on various platforms, and how content is received on Facebook vs. Instagram. After a great deal of time and creative energy, they put videos and static images into a folder for me, Sabrina, to approve.
Approval
I look at content and visuals to see if they match our brand, which is whimsical, upbeat, and supportive. We want StoryForge to be the best kind of writing community, and that starts with the space we create online. I’m also checking for readability and distracting visuals or typos. I typically find one or two details to change per 15 pieces of content. Once I approve the content, it’s ready for posting!
Posting
Posts are scheduled ahead of time so that we have a backlog of content to draw from (otherwise, our social media team would be very stressed all of the time). In the Meta Business Suite, Beatrice adds alt-text to all of our posts. She’s been taking notes from followers and improving as she goes.
Analysis
Tim takes a look at all of the posts and looks for trends and patterns. He has a very impressive (and intimidating) spreadsheet that he adjusts periodically for monthly reports. He groups posts into categories like Fun and Writing Prompts and lets us know which do the best, when and with who, and on what platform.
Starting from the top
Tim presents his findings to the marketing team along with suggestions based on the data. These are especially helpful for Coriander and Beatrice to adjust the type of content they focus on making next. And the whole thing starts again!
I’d also like to extend a special welcome to Kaitlin White and Brittany Proudfoot Ginder, who will be helping us make StoryForge amazing for all of you! Keep an eye out for Kate’s upcoming blog posts.
Next up, I’ll go through the latest work from the dev team. Get hyped!
